Who is Who
Little about me
Little about me
First Indian 35th Generation Shaolin Temple Warrior Secular Disciple many times trained in World Famous Songshan Shaolin Temple, China.
Martial arts have been more than just a discipline for me—they are the very essence of my being. Among all the styles I’ve explored, Shaolin Kung Fu has left an indelible mark on my life, shaping not only my skills but also my philosophy, spirit, and purpose.
The First Encounter
Growing up in Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, I was always fascinated by stories of warriors and their discipline. At the age of 12, my journey in martial arts began under the guidance of my first master, Shree Lucky N. Chan Thakuri. While my foundation in martial arts was strong, it was my exposure to Shaolin Kung Fu that truly transformed my perspective. The ancient art form, known for its profound philosophy, rigorous training, and deep spiritual connection, resonated with me in ways that no other style ever had.
The Call to Shaolin Monastery
In 2006, I received the rare honor of being invited to the Shaolin Monastery in Henan, China—the birthplace of Kung Fu and Zen Buddhism. This opportunity was a dream come true, offering me a chance to immerse myself in the teachings of this sacred art form.
Under the mentorship of legendary monks Shi Xing Wang and Shi Yan Lu, I delved deep into the principles of Shaolin Kung Fu. The rigorous training—both physical and mental—pushed my limits, teaching me endurance, humility, and a deeper understanding of myself. The daily practice of forms, meditation, and combat techniques instilled a discipline that transcended the training hall and seeped into every aspect of my life.
During a ceremonial moment, I was bestowed the Shaolin Monk name Shi Heng Chang, officially marking my place as the 35th Generation Shaolin Temple Warrior Secular Disciple. This recognition not only honored my dedication but also placed a responsibility on my shoulders to carry forward the legacy of Shaolin Kung Fu.
Shaolin Philosophy in My Life
Shaolin Kung Fu is not just about mastering physical techniques; it is a way of life. The principles of Chan (Zen)—mindfulness, balance, and inner peace—have become the cornerstone of my journey. Whether it’s navigating challenges in life or teaching martial arts to others, the Shaolin philosophy has guided me to act with clarity, resilience, and compassion.
The art also taught me the importance of harmony between the body and mind. Training in the fluid yet powerful movements of Shaolin Kung Fu revealed the essence of balance—not just in combat but in life itself. This harmony has allowed me to approach every challenge with strength and calmness, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth.
Carrying Shaolin Kung Fu to the World
Returning to India, I felt a profound duty to share the wisdom and techniques I had learned. In 1999, even before my visit to the Shaolin Monastery, I had founded The Wu-Shu Kung-Fu Federation of India, but after my return, its mission expanded. I organized countless workshops, competitions, and seminars to introduce people to the transformative power of Shaolin Kung Fu.
Through these efforts, I have strived to make martial arts accessible to everyone—not just as a sport or self-defense mechanism but as a way of life. The art has the power to instill discipline, confidence, and a sense of purpose, and I am committed to spreading this knowledge far and wide.
Shaolin’s Legacy in My Story
Shaolin Kung Fu is more than an art to me; it is the heartbeat of my story. From the moment I stepped into the Shaolin Temple to my ongoing efforts to promote martial arts across the globe, the journey has been nothing short of transformative.
The lessons I learned at Shaolin continue to inspire my daily life. Whether I am teaching a new student, competing in an international arena, or reflecting on my path, I feel the Shaolin spirit within me—a blend of discipline, strength, and compassion.
My story is far from over, and as I move forward, I carry the Shaolin legacy with pride and purpose. It is a privilege to be a part of this ancient tradition, and I dedicate my life to honoring its teachings, sharing its wisdom, and inspiring others to embrace the art of Shaolin Kung Fu.
Shaolin Kung Fu is not just my practice—it is my life, my story, and my eternal journey.
